What is the difference between a used, rebuilt and remanufactured engine and transmission?

A used engine or transmission is taken from another vehicle and sold in its existing condition, without any repairs or internal inspections. It’s the most budget-friendly option but comes with the highest risk, as wear and performance can vary widely. A rebuilt engine or transmission has been disassembled and inspected, with only the damaged or worn parts replaced. While more reliable than a used unit, the quality of a rebuilt component can vary depending on the technician and the extent of repairs performed. A remanufactured engine or transmission is fully restored to like-new condition. All critical components are replaced or re-machined to meet original factory standards, and updates are often made to correct known design flaws. Remanufactured units typically come with the longest warranties and offer the highest level of reliability, making them the best long-term option if you plan to keep your vehicle.

Are the engines complete?

Most of the engines we offer are complete long block engines. This industry-standard term refers to remanufactured engines that include the engine block, cylinder heads, gaskets, and oil pump already installed. In many cases, external components such as the oil pan, timing cover, valve covers, intake manifold, are thoroughly cleaned and reused.

What is a core charge?

A core charge is a deposit that's typically charged with an engine purchase. These deposits are charged so that the remanufacturer can offset the cost of getting another engine to rebuild if the customer doesn't return their old one.

Do you accept core returns?

Yes, we accept core returns under specific conditions:

The core must be a like-for-like match.
It should be drained of all fluids and oil.
Returned within 30 days of delivery.
Returned in the same undamaged skid or container.

What warranty do you offer on your products?

We offer comprehensive warranties on our products:

Automotive Engines: Covering parts and labor for 36 MONTHS UNLIMITED MILEAGE: Passenger Cars and Light Trucks up to ¾ ton except motor homes* and special use vehicles*. This warranty covers parts and labor as described in Remanufacturer’s Limited Warranty for a period of 36 months unlimited miles.
Marine Engines: 12 months for pleasure craft with unlimited hours; 6 months or 500 hours for commercial use. NEW AND REMANUFACTURED MARINE PERFORMANCE ENGINES are warranted on a start-up basis only against manufactured defects. RACE AND/OR HOT ROD APPLICATIONS are excluded from any and all warranty coverage regardless of cause.
